Katherine has worked as a journalist in Los Angeles for about 20 years, mostly covering food and daily culture. Her work as an amateur historian has always been her most personally fulfilling, and most popular with readers and listeners, particularly evidenced in her long-running food history project, Smart Mouth. She is currently figuring out her next steps while obtaining certificates (copyright law at Harvard; archiving at Pasadena City College, etc.) while working as a researcher-for-hire for a number of authors and private clients. Katherine is currently assisting on a biography of Maria Rasputin and perpetually revising her theories on the invention of tiki bars.

Katherine is available for research and personal collections management projects.
